Return in the fall? We hope!

Well, we keep trying. The plan is to return to some posted news stories this fall -- 2011.
We posted no stories last year as we took on an ambitious movie project in the fall of 2010.

Miles City Public Library Youth Centers

The Miles City Public Library is currently (Fall 2009) constructing two large areas -- 1800 sq. ft for children and 1000 sq ft for teens. These spaces are located behind the main building. The work began last June and should be completed and open to the public in January of 2010. The $350,000 construction and $100,000 investment for computers, furniture, and other interior items has been paid for by many local donations.

Presented are three stories. The first and second stories have the same script, but different editors. The third is done by the instructor with slightly more detail.

This MCNN story edited by Jamie, Jessica, and Katlyn.

This story edited by Bailee and Cheyenne.

This version adds a few details and is edited by the instructor.

Note: There is an error in the first two stories where the narrator says $1,000 instead of $100,000 was spent on computers, furniture, etc. The student had actually made three takes and corrected the error in the 2nd and 3rd, but the instructor "messed up" and used the 1st. take.

We hope to be back soon

The plan is to have MCNN running again. Students interviewed the staff of the Miles City Public Library about the $450K remodeling project on Friday, Sept. 25th. We hope to have story(ies) posted sometime next week -- although since this will be the first for this crew it will take some time.

Summer

Due to school work, etc., we were unable to continue with our news stories.  It was just too hard to get all the regular classwork done in addition to the MCNN items.  However, a new crop of students will be walking in the door next fall and I hope that we will be able to post a few stories. Fall is the best time to get things extra done.

We appreciate the very positive feed back over the year, which makes me feel all the worse that we were not able to keep the stories coming.

Thank you

MCNN Not Quite Ready to Ride Again

Still checking the site? Good for you!

We had hoped to be back in business by mid January. Well, we have been -- just not here. This is the time of the year we publish our annual news magazine the Irish Pride. Efforts have been focused on our print endeavors rather than video. Would you like a copy? Go to the school web site, follow the contact email link and we'll send you one.

Still, don't give up on us. We do plan to get back to MCNN, ah, eventually.

Christmas Preparations Stifle News Productions

Not that we've been cranking out stories as of late, but the well is going to be even drier until January '08.

We are in full Christmas mode -- program preparation, traveling-singing performances, etc. As a result, the MCNN crew is thinking "Grinch" our main program. Sets, special effects, and rehearsals will be taking up our time.

We look forward to posting stories again about mid January.

Thanks for checking in. We appreciate it.

Cornerstone Open House

After five years of planning and 3.5(M) dollars of work, the oldest portions of the former Holy Rosary Hospital have been turned into affordable family housing -- The Cornerstone Apartments. On November 5th an open house was held. This was a real celebration giving the community a chance to not only look over the apartments, but to thank the Miles City Housing Authority Board and its director Melissa Hartman for a job well done. Josh, 8th grade, did the main editing and production work with help from instructor Freese. T-J and Freese wrote the item. Freese narrated due to time constraints.
